Reel Downloader privacy policy

Reel Downloader is a free Chrome extension made by PostOnce. It saves Instagram posts you choose to your computer. This policy explains what the extension can access, what it stores, and what it sends.

What the extension accesses

• Instagram pages you open. The extension runs only on www.instagram.com. It places a Download button beside posts and, when you click it, reads that post's media details from the page and from Instagram's own servers, using the session already open in your browser.
• Media files. It downloads the video, audio or image files of the post you chose directly from Instagram's servers and combines them inside your browser.
• Your downloads. It uses Chrome's downloads feature to save the file and to show it in your folder.

The extension does not read other websites, your browsing history, your Instagram password, messages, or any post you didn't click Download on.

What stays on your computer

• Downloaded files are saved by Chrome to your downloads folder. They are never uploaded to PostOnce or anyone else.
• The extension keeps a small amount of local data in Chrome's extension storage: your settings (for example, whether you hid the PostOnce offer) and the status of your latest download so it can recover if a tab closes. You can clear this in Help & privacy → Reset preferences, or by removing the extension.

What the extension sends to PostOnce

Nothing. The extension has no analytics or usage tracking. It doesn't send PostOnce, or anyone else, information about the posts you view or download.

Opening PostOnce

After a download, the extension may show an offer for PostOnce. If you click it, PostOnce opens in a new tab with a link tag that says which extension sent you (for example `utm_source=reel_downloader`). Nothing about your download, file or Instagram account is passed along. PostOnce's own privacy policy applies to the PostOnce website.

The web downloader on reeldownloader.app

The website also has a paste-a-link downloader that works without the extension. It works differently, so it's described separately:

• The link you paste is sent to our server and to our download provider, which looks up that public post's files on Instagram. Nothing else about you or your account is sent, and you don't sign in.
• Results (the list of files for that link) are kept for up to 30 minutes so a repeated lookup doesn't run again. Files are streamed from Instagram's servers to you; we don't keep copies.
• Abuse protection: Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is making the request, and your IP address is used briefly to rate-limit lookups. We don't store it with the link or build a history of what you look up.
• No cookies or analytics are set by our pages.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or share data.
• We don't use data for advertising, creditworthiness or lending.
• We don't load remote code. All extension code is included in the package reviewed by the Chrome Web Store.
• We don't collect your Instagram login. If Instagram asks you to sign in or confirm you're human, you do that on Instagram yourself.

Your responsibility

Only download posts you own or have permission to reuse. Reel Downloader is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.
